Nanotechnology is playing an increasingly important role in research and development and harbors promising innovative potential for Bayer. For example, Bayer MaterialScience recently started to manufacture carbon nanotubes under the name Baytubes®. The low weight and tremendous strength of these materials make them a classic example of what nanotechnology can achieve.
